Apprenticeship Program
Flynn Creek Circus, in cooperation with Circus Mentors Inc, is proud to offer an apprenticeship program. The purpose of the program is to establish mentorship relationships between new artists and seasoned professionals that will help guide informed career decisions. The position works all aspects of the show from rigging to operating sound equipment and exposes apprentices to the full scope of life on the road. Apprentices will be expected to participate fully in build up and pull down of the circus big top, postering and advertising the show, ticket office or ushering preshow, learning about safety and procedure, coupling trailers, and performing regularly in the show. Apprentices are required to stay on site with the circus. Apprentices will keep a performance log. The log will be a record of progress, a study of audience reaction and a study of personal performance success based on all variables of circus living. This log will have a section for the Artistic director to make additional observations. The minimum age requirement is 18. All disciplines will be considered including marketing, lighting, stage and sound apprenticeships. Apprentices are required to maintain liability insurance. Professional performers who are developing new works are also encouraged to apply. To see our current apprentices, visit the circusmentors.org page. It is our hope that apprentices will gain substantially from the experience, often in surprising ways. To be considered for an apprenticeship position, please contact circus@flynncreekcircus.com with apprentice in the subject line. Include video links, press photo and a single paragraph describing what the candidate hopes to gain from the experience.
